The Packhorse Gallery & Meltham Village celebrate Tour de Yorkshire

The Packhorse Gallery were recently contacted on Twitter by @hashtagmeltham asking if we could help, I was intrigued and sent a quick reply stating that we liked a challenge, what did they need?

Over the following weeks, we worked with some great people who strive to keep Meltham village a thriving community, they were fortunate enough to be on the cycling route for the Tour de Yorkshire and wanted to celebrate in style with a wide range of activities so suit all tastes and asked The Packhorse Gallery for help to create a community art exhibition.

After discussing some of the potential difficulties, we came up with a plan to ensure both potential artists and the venue…. The newly established Meltham Post Office* would be happy with

We put a call out for artists and it was well received by our own recognised artists, however, we also managed to reach a whole new audience therefore creating a stunning new local exhibition to be proud of and raise awareness of the Packhorse Gallery’s work surrounding wellbeing in the community

As part of last years Tour de France celebrations, The Packhorse Gallery were chosen to host workshops, creating one of 9 ‘Willow Cyclists’ with renown artist Carole Beavis. As it links in so nicely with this years events, we decided our Willow Cyclist, should go on tour !
So far this week she’s been spotted in Huddersfield Market Square and in the back of a transit van, before making her way to Meltham , where she has visited St Bart’s Church and the Post Office so far……
